C.L.A.S.P. (Camp Longhorn™ Alumni and Special Parents)

Because summer camp never really ends, CLASP (Camp Longhorn Alumni and Special Parents) was formed to give the more than 80,000 veteran campers, counselors and parents a way to stay actively involved in Camp Longhorn. This independent organization promotes the spirit of fun and friendship year round through newsletters, carnivals, reunions and an exclusive CLASP mini-summer camp.

How to Join C.L.A.S.P.

CLASP membership is available to all campers and counselors who are at least 23 years old and any parents who have had or have children at camp for at least 3 years. Note: To be eligible for the Mini-Camp you must be a member of CLASP.

2018 Mini Camp Information

Applications can be downloaded here.

There will be only one mini camp in 2018 and it will be at Inks Lake. There will be only one mini camp in 2019 and it will be at Indian Springs. The two camps will rotate! All ex campers, counselors, employees and Special Parents are welcome at all of the camps. (Special Parent is a parent that has or has had a camper here for at least 3 years … this coming summer counted as a year!)

Mini Camp Schedule

(This is a very loose schedule and subject to change at any moment!)

1 to 2 p.m.
Please park your car on the airstrip. Light pick-up lunch in Chow Hall and a visit with BARNEY and KIM available at registration.
Pick your bunk - girls camp if you wish to get some sleep(?) or boys camp if sleep is not on your schedule!
1 to 5 p.m.
Unscheduled activities all afternoon including lazy river (Rio Flojo), blobbing, swimming, sailing, skiing, canoeing, climbing wall, water sock, tubing, etc., etc. You pick what you want to do and when you want to do it!
A great mini-golf tournament will be going during the afternoon for those what want to participate!
3:00 - 5:00
Please join us for some great shopping! Note: Merit Store will not be open Sunday morning! Check/Credit cards only.
Before dinner we will have a raffle (lots of fun prizes with the grand prize being a trip back for two to mini-camp in 2019 or 2020) and drinks and snacks!
A great meal is already being discussed! It will probably be chicken fried steak with all the trimmings prepared by BARNEY and KIM and their great staff!
Our campfires are always SOOO much fun and we look forward to some great entertainment! And, maybe some guitar playing, too!

After campfire there will be free time .. unplanned activities. For those who wish to stay on the grounds we will have marshmallows and smores and evening Rio Flojo fun!
8:00 a.m.
It's early to rise on Sunday morning with pancakes, bacon, fruit, etc. at BARNEY's Chow Hall and some great, strong coffee, too!
9:00 a.m.
It's off to Church Mountain with an inspirational short service before saying SO-LONG-HORN until 2020!

A few notes

  • If you are coming to camp, please sign up a little early so we can be sure to have enough T-shirts and the right sizes.
  • There will be a more detailed note about what to bring, schedule of things planned, etc..., about a week or so before camp time for those of you signed up.

CAMP WILL NOT OPEN before 1pm. so you will be responsible for making arrangements the night before if you arrive early. (There are no planned activities on Friday night before camp opens on Saturday.)
