CHATTER

First term camper TOMMY PAREDES was chosen to be Master of Ceremonies for his 3rd grade talent show at Christ the King School in Dallas. Tommy kept the show running smoothly and entertained the crowd in-between acts. Sounds like Tommy needs to be the MC for his cabin campfire this summer! Attawaytogo Tommy!

Second term campers LAURA BROUSSARD, CHELSEA BANCROFT and EMILY DEES from Beaumont are all on the J.V. Cheer Squad for Kelly High School.

Fourth term camper ALLEGRA PETTA was a member of the Robotics team that competed at the Regional Robotics competition in Dec. in Austin. The team worked on the project for 8 months. The team researched alternative energy sources by visiting a wind mill farm in Abilene and touring the Nuclear Power Plant in Glen Rose. The team calculated Velocity by driving go-carts. They completed an energy audit on an office building in Ft. Worth.

Second term camper EMILY STONE from Dallas won the USGA State Gymnastics title. She won the floor exercise and was runner up in all other events to claim the All-Around State Title.
Attawaytogo Emily!

3rd year camper JOE COZBY, from Houston, placed 1st in the Webelos Scout Division and 2nd overall with his Camp Longhorn Car racing in the annual Kincaid School Cub Scout Pinewood Derby held Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008.
Joe had a great time building his derby car and felt that the CLH stickers really provided an "aerodynamic edge" over the competition. In every race, when Joe's car pulled ahead, you could almost hear the car say "Sooo Longhorn!!!"
Third term Marina AUBREY ELENZ performed with her band "Super Pal Universe" at SxSW in Austin.
Elenz had a chance to visit with the Band "Nelo", which is headed up by
Camp Longhorn Alumns
Matt Ragland and Reid Umstaddt.
On a recent trip to Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida, 4th term camper CHARLIE BARRETT from Austin met the one and only Mickey Mouse. Charlie taught Mickey the Camp Longhorn Attawaytogo sign.
Along with Mickey, Charlie is pictured with his Mom Elizabeth, sister Zoe and his Dad Gary, who is a Longhorn Alumn.

Attaway Charlie (and Mickey too)!

Third term camper GRENVILLE LINES from Bermuda has been selected to represent Bermuda on the U12 national Rugby team in the Cayman Islands. This will be Grenville's second "CAP" for Bermuda as he represented Bermuda last year on a tour to England. Grenville can be seen in the above photo wearing the red Scrum Cap on the national tour of England last summer.
ATTAWAYTOGO Grenville!
Camp Longhorn
by Carla I. Benavides
First term camper from Laredo

The warm sunshine on my head
As I hear the laughter overhead
The cool water on my face
I feel like I am in outerspace

My limbs floating up and down
I am several feet above the ground
Jump on the giant blobs
At Camp Longhorn no one sobs

My parents will miss me so
The bus is here, it is time to go
To the place where dreams come true
Camp Longhorn I will be with you

Trampoline, Archery, Tumbling too
There are plenty activities for me and you
At ghost town you will sit on logs
At picnic you will eat hot dogs

You eat ice cream with peanut butter and honey
At petting Zoo you can rent a bunny
Next year I will be true
Camp Longhorn, I Love You!
